This week on WHOA: A Most EXCELLENT Keanu Reeves podcast, NCT Director Dorian Lenz joins Krissy to discuss “Point Break” from 1991 and “The Day the Earth Stood Still” from 2008.  A movie where Keanu is a sexy and philosophical surfing F-B-I Agent! Plus a movie where Keanu is a sexy and philosophical environmentally conscious alien!

Spoiler Alert

We are discussing the movies in their entirety. So if you want to know if Johnny Utah catches Bodhi before the 50 year storm or if Klattu is convinced to save earth from the scrubbing bubbles of doom, you should probably watch the movies ahead of time before we spoil it for you here. Your alert has been spoiled.

Episode 09 Features

“Point Break” from 1991. Keanu is resplendent as Johnny Utah a brand new “blue flame” F-B-I Agent who goes undercover to bust a crew of surfing bank robbers. Things get complicated when Johnny becomes a little too close to his surfing guru buddy, Patrick Swayze’s brilliantly metaphysical Bodhi. If you haven’t seen this movie, I can’t recommend it highly enough. Rent it on Amazon HERE.

For your delight and amusement, I offer you now this video of the gang from Human Giant plus the gang from the State and Reno 911 with their take on an exciting scene from Point Break…

In Episode 09 we also cover

“The Day the Earth Stood Still” from 2008. Keanu is mysterious as Klattu, a visitor from outer space who is sent to determine whether the human beings of Earth are worth saving. Things get complicated when everyone is a super dick to Klattu. Not to worry, though, Jennifer Connelly, Jaden Smith and Jon Hamm are on the case! If you haven’t seen this movie, I recommend it. Not necessarily highly, but I still recommend it. Rent it on Amazon HERE.

In “Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey,” from 1991, Keanu is back in action as the lovable Ted… only this time things are about to get crazy as Bill and Ted face off against the Devil, Death and even God in the afterlife. In “Street Kings,” from 2008, Keanu is a deadly and possibly corrupt police officer…. and things are about to get crazy as he faces off against many enemies, and even a few friends to clear his name and get to the bottom of a mystery.

Keanu-thusiasm

Your bonus Keanu for the day! In preparation for next week… please enjoy this little behind the scenes preview of “Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey.” The Director’s comments on the movie are priceless but the real treat is Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves describing the language of Bill and Ted…. they are adorable together.
